The spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus has led to a great deal of uncertainty amongst all involved parties and we are receiving large numbers of enquiries regarding organisation of the “Optatec” trade fair.
In view of the current situation and in close consultation with the trade fair advisory board, we have now decided to postpone the event which was originally scheduled to take place from 12 to 14 May 2020!
“Optatec” is now scheduled to take place from 17 to 19 November 2020.
Messe Frankfurt has confirmed that they will provide us with suitable floor space for these dates.
Our decision is based on the Third Decree on the Control of the Corona Virus issued by the State of Hesse on 14 March 2020, according to which events with an anticipated number of 100 or more participants have been prohibited. Although the decree is initially only valid up to and including 18 April 2020, based on experience in other federal states, subsequent extension of the ban can be expected with sufficient probability (a similar ban has already been pronounced in Baden-Württemberg which is effective through 14 June 2020).
Furthermore, uncertainty about a possible extension and its duration does not permit responsible planning for either the organisers or the exhibitors, and the event’s economic success would be placed in jeopardy due to the fact that a lack of exhibitors and visitors resulting from the pandemic could not be ruled out.
Finally, and not least of all, we are also concerned about the health of exhibitors, employees and visitors, whom we do not want to expose to any avoidable risks.
We can offer all of the exhibitors the opportunity of switching over their existing exhibition contracts to the new event dates.
We ask for your understanding with regard to postponement of the trade fair, which is unfortunately unavoidable due to the ban on events and out of concern for the health of all involved parties.
