The disk laser was invented more than 20 years ago by Dr. Adolf Giesen and his coworkers at the University of Stuttgart. Disk laser technology is beneficial for medical applications, micro- and macro machining in the industry, as well as for such research fields as optical parametric chirped-pulse amplification, extreme ultra­violet generation, attosecond physics.
