Semiconductor Laser Gyroscope Up to date attempts to produce a semiconductor laser gyroscope (SLG) were unsuccessful. A new approach that opens a practicable way to build it is proposed. The SLG contains an optical amplifier and a ring resonator in the form of a long light guide; external single frequency radiation injection and subsequent counter-propagating waves circulation in the ring resonator are applied. Angular gyration sensibility of 0.01 degree per second was demonstrated.

The device passed tests in realistic atmosphere. Results of a model numerical experiment for measuring the transversal to the trace lateral component of medium wind velocity are given.
